Arsenal’s pursuit of West Brom’s Johnny Evans could become a reality for just £3 million.
The Gunner’s pursuit of the Northern Ireland man is well documented and Arsene Wenger is even desperate for the move to be completed by the end of this month. However, the two clubs remain far off in terms of how they value the player.
Reports yesterday claimed that Arsenal has offered Mathieu Debuchy and £15 million for Evans, an offer that was rejected outrightly by the Baggies. The Baggies reportedly want at least £23 million for the defender, however, Arsenal could sign Evans for just £3 million if they wait for the end of the season.
With the Baggies currently fighting to avoid relegation to the Championship, Evans would be available to his suitors for just £3 million if the Baggies don’t survive the drop. This is because he asked for a relegation release clause written into his deal when he joined them from Manchester United.
With this information in mind it is unclear if Wenger would ask for the club’s board to wait until the end of the season and see if they can get the better deal. However, waiting may prove disastrous as West Brom are reportedly already looking for his replacement and they may sell him to any of his other suitor.
