It’s not often that the press get things right but with so many suggesting this latest news and our sources confirming it too it does appear that Mersut Ozil will in fact be signing a contract extension to make him the highest ever paid player at Arsenal.
Even if you move aside all of the tweets and instagram updates there is mounting evidence that suggests he would prefer to stay in London and does not fancy a switch to either another London club nor anywhere up North. If he does sign then surely that has to be the best transfer business completed this January for any club.
Aubemeyang is starting to drag on now and it must getting to Arsenal fans. Although there is no guarantee that he’ll hit the Premiership running, it would surely be a huge boost to all at the club should he walk through the door. Rumours have suggested it could still happen within 24 hours but there are also suggestions that Dortmund have refused the fee offered. Could this be another deal that Arsenal lose out on because their valuation is just a few million short? Fans will be hoping not.
Arsenal could be moving in for the kill for experience former United defender Jonny Evans but there are rumours suggesting he is still of interest to Manchester City as they might not have the full funds available for Laporte. Could Evans join United’s nemesis in Manchester City or try his luck in London?
There has also been talk of Mahrez joining from Leicester City. It’s not been reported everywhere but the signing does make sense especially as Lemar and Malcom won’t be available to buy until the summer.
