Some big news where Arsenal is concerned today and most of it actually comes from the horses mouth himself.
Not one to talk about transfer dealings generally Wenger has confirmed that a swap deal between Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is nearing its conclusion adding:
“I’ve worked on transfer for 30 years so it’s likely to happen but at any moment things can break down, that’s how the market is. As long as it is not over the line, you have to accept that it could not happen. These kind of things are never guaranteed.”
He also confirmed that even if the Sanchez deal goes through, that their business would not be concluded saying “Are we are still in the transfer market after that? Yes.”
This highlights the potential move for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who apparently can come with certain negative baggage but this has not put Wenger off who has turned this into a potential positive. Asked whether Aubameyang would fit in:
“Yes because character can be a positive note and a very negative note. If you look at the achievements of a player over his career, usually when the career has been very positive the character has been used in a positive way”.
Wenger also confirmed that Ozil would be staying in January and that there was nothing to update us on regards Jonny Evans.
On item we can confirm ourselves is that Hector Bellerin won’t be leaving Arsenal this January. It has been reported that Juventus are keen on his signature but any interest or potential deal will not be looked into until after the World Cup in Russia.
PSG are also still keen to sell Julian Draxler and there is huge interest by Arsenal. It does though remain to be seen whether this will materialise in January and our sources suggest Arsenal fans will need to wait until the summer.
