Arsenal are not showing any signs of ending their defence recruitment drive soon as they are linked to yet another defender.
The Gunners have already snapped up former Juventus defender, Stephan Leichsteiner on a free transfer this week and they are said to be close to signing Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos for £16 million.
Sun Sport is claiming the Gunners have added young German defender Lukas Klostermann to their list of defensive targets and Unai Emery is keen on completing the transfer of the RB Leipzig star.
Klostermann is just 22 but he played 39 games across all competitions for Leipzig last season and was a member of Germany’s Olympic silver-medal winning team at Rio 2016.
What appeals more to Emery is the defender’s versatility. Klostermann plays primarily as a right full back, however, he has shown that he is adept at playing in any position across the back four.
Though he hasn’t played for the senior German national team yet, he is one of the brightest prospects to come out of VFL Bochum and he has played for all of Germany’s youth national teams.
Leipzig are not looking to sell any of their players this summer after losing Naby Keita to Liverpool, but a huge bid from the Gunners could change that stance.
