Arsenal have entered the race for former Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique.
The Spaniard has been in the news lately as the most likely target of Chelsea as they look to replace Antonio Conte after this season. He is reported to have even agreed a move to Chelsea already and has submitted a list of targets to the club’s owner.
However, Arsenal are attempting to make a late bid to bring him to north London.
According to Daily Mail, the Gunners want Arsene Wenger to step down after this season as they do not want to miss out on a top quality manager like Enrique.
Arsene Wenger still has a year to run on his current deal with the Gunners and remain adamant that he has never walked away from a contract and would not do that with his current employers.
However, fans have begun protesting against his reign again as it is becoming clearer that they would finish outside the top four and behind Tottenham again this season.
Enrique won the La Liga, Champions League and two consecutive Coppa Del Rey title with Barcelona, but he has been on a sabbatical since he left the La Liga leaders last season. He wants to return to management next season, and managing in the Premier League is his preferred choice.
