Once again another defender has come to Arsenal and failed to kick on under the guidance of Arsene Wenger.
Despite having a good first season and a solid performance in the FA Cup final, Rob Holding is set to leave the Gunners due to limited opportunities. Holding started his career with the Gunners very well and impressed observers with his ability to play with the ball at his feet, yet Wenger has not been impressed enough to give him some time in the Gunners’ first team.
Burnley enquired about his availability last month as Sean Dyche sees the former Bolton man as a top star for the future, and the Gunners responding with what they feel is the right price for the defender.
According to reports, Arsenal told Burnley they can have Holding for £15 million. It would net the Gunners a healthy £13 million profit, but their fans are left questioning their motives.
They failed to land Johnny Evans last month and have had to use Mohammed Elneny as a centre back at times this season, why do they want to sell Holding when they have not found a replacement yet?
Holding has featured only 7 times in the Premier League this season.
