Norwich City are bracing themselves for a battle to keep hold of their star man, James Maddison after a solid campaign in the Championship.
The England youth international has starred for the Canaries this season, scoring 15 goals from midfield. Despite his goal haul, Norwich failed to make even the playoffs and the youngster now wants to test himself at the very highest level.
Maddison injured himself in Norwich’s final game of the season as they were thumped 5-1 by Sheffield Wednesday, and he had originally feared that he could miss the start to next season. However, he has been told that his knee injury is not as bad as first feared and he can put himself on the transfer market.
Arsenal were thought to be leading the race for the signature of Maddison earlier in the season, but the Gunners now face competition from Manchester City and Tottenham.
Pep Guardiola is hoping to add more English players to his team next summer and sees Maddison as one of the best English teenagers at the moment. The Catalan hopes to convince him to join them even though he might be sent on loan to one of their sister clubs.
Mauricio Pochettino has built a reputation for helping young English stars build a good career and get into the national team and the Argentine wants to help Maddison become the very best. He sees Maddison as the long term replacement for Moussa Dembele who could leave White Hart Lane this summer.
