Arsenal have reportedly made a late bid for top German talent, Max Meyer as they look to take advantage of his expiring contract to bring him to London.
Meyer has been one of the most sought-after German talents for the past few years, and like most German youth internationals he is currently inside the final six months of his deal with Schalke O4.
He has been reluctant to sign a new deal at the Gelsenkirchen club and they are considering selling him this month with the Gunners in firm position to land him.
Reports in the German media this morning is claiming that the Gunners have tabled an undisclosed amount for his signature as Arsene Wenger believes he can help the underperforming youngster to become a great player.
Meyer is having an underwhelming season in the Bundesliga as he has failed to register a goal or an assist in 15 games this season. Despite his drop in input, Schalke still consider him a very important part of their first team and they would be devastated to see him leave especially as they have lost Leon Goretzka to Bayern Munich.
Meyer is still only 22 and could become the long term replacement for Mesut Ozil.
