Arsenal have been left frustrated in their efforts to tie Aaron Ramsey down to a new contract, and the midfielder has decided to put a stop to negotiation until January.
The Gunners and Ramsey’s representatives have been deadlocked in talks over extending the Welsh star’s contract since last summer. With just under a year left on his current contract, Ramsey has told the Gunners that he wants the same contract as Mesut Ozil, but the club don’t value him that much.
The Gunners have been keen to wrap up the negotiations, but Daily Mail claims that Ramsey is in no hurry and plans to hold out until January like Ozil and Sanchez did last summer, to get what he wants.
Ozil and Alexis Sanchez held out for £350k per week from the Gunners last summer, and facing the reality of losing over £1000 million worth of talents, the club eventually exchanged Sanchez for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and agreed to pay Ozil £350k per week.
The German has not been impressive since signing the new contract and Ramsey feels he is on par with the former Real Madrid man, and his new wage should mirror that.
Ramsey was controversially dropped from the Gunners’ line up or their match against West Ham, but Unai Emery spoke glowingly about him in his post match conference, and he is expected to wear the captain’s armband at some point in the season.
