Arsenal could be the winners in the ongoing war to sign Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez if bookies have their way.
The Algerian has been a revelation for Leicester city since he joined them from the second tier of the French League. He went on to help them win the Premier League in the 2015/2016 season. Although he endured an underwhelming 2016/2017 season, this season has been different and he has shown his potential suitors that he is more than a one-season wonder.
Liverpool were favourites to sign him earlier this month, but the fact that he plays in the same position as their top goal scorer Mohammed Salah, the Reds have relaxed their interest and this has opened the way for Arsenal to swoop.
According to Coral, the Algerian could still leave the Foxes this month and he would most likely be heading to the Emirates. The bookmakers have increased the odd of the Gunners signing him from 5-1 to 7-2, with Liverpool coming second at 6-1.
He also has interest from the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham, while Manchester United have been made 25-1 favourites to sign him.
Mahrez is desperate to play in the Champions League again and reportedly has a gentle man’s agreement with the Foxes to join any top club that comes for his signature.
