North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal have taken their rivalry off the field and into the transfer market as they both look to add Stevenage youngster Ben Wilmot to their ranks.
The 18 years old has continued to impress for the League Two side and he looks set for a future in the English top flight.
Arsenal who signed Rob Holding in a similar deal from Bolton two seasons ago wants Wilmot to become their next English defence star and the Gunners are rumoured to have had a £1 million bid for his signature rejected already.
It is claimed that Tottenham also had an offer for the teenager rejected, but Mauricio Pochettino has continued to receive good scouting reports about the teenager and he is prepared to go back for him.
Gunners are set for another major overhaul in the transfer window next summer with a new defender top of Arsene Wenger’s priority. Although Wilmot may not be trusted with first-team responsibility immediately, Wenger believes the player may be in contention sooner.
Spurs loaned Luke Amos to Stevenage and they hope their relationship with the club would see them land the youngster ahead of their city rivals.
