Arsenal have taken their search for a new defender to Italy as the Gunners look to strengthen an area of the pitch that has been their problem spot for a long time.
The Gunners failed in their efforts to sign West Brom’s Johnny Evans last month as they had a late bid for the Northern Irish man turned down by the Baggies, because it came too late. However, Arsene Wenger knows he has to sign new defenders if they want to achieve any long term success, and he has turned his search to the Serie A.
The agent of Juventus midfielder, Danielle Rugani, David Torchia is claiming that the Gunners have contacted him to declare their interest in his client. The 23 years old has failed to nail a starting spot in the Old Ladies line up this season, despite the sale of Leonardo Bonucci.
Speaking to an Italian sports radio, Torchia claimed “Arsenal? They didn’t launch any attempts for him.
“They expressed a liking for him but we have respect for Juventus.”
The Gunners are hoping to sign the defender next summer as they look to fix their leaky defence and challenge for major honours next season.
