Liverpool and Arsenal are set to rekindle their rivalry in the transfer market next summer, with the duo battling together for the signature of two players already.
Thomas Lemar was the player they both battled for last summer, but Liverpool have since pulled out of the race for the French man. Jack Butland is another player at the centre of a tug-of-war between them.
Daily Star is now reporting that they are both also interested in signing Schalke’s Max Meyer as the young German continues to ponder whether he should sign a new deal at his home town club.
Meyer has been a long term target of Arsene Wenger since he burst onto the scene at the Rio 2016 Olympics. But he has decided to continue his development in Germany over the past two years.
However, he has now run down his contract and appears to be heading for the exit door. He is attracting the attention of AC Milan and Bayern Munich also, but he knows he would find it hard to break into the first team at Bayern Munich, and does not fancy a move to Milan.
Liverpool are hoping Jurgen Klopp can use his German influence to convince the youngster to join him at Anfield next summer, while Wenger is hoping to steal a march on the Reds by using the appeal of London.
