Manchester City are looking to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco next summer. The Cityzens are said to be looking to bring the underperforming Spaniard to the Etihad as part an effort to bring in players with high commercial value.
However, they now face a major hurdle after Manchester United entered the race for the signature of the former Malaga man.
Isco has come under scrutiny for his poor performances since he signed a new long term deal at the Bernabeu last summer and reports over the past couple of weeks have claimed that Zinedine Zidane will sell him next summer.
Although the French boss has cleared the air by claiming he is not looking to sell Isco or any of his star men, many fans know he just does not want to unsettle his team by his public statements at the moment.
Mourinho is looking for a replacement for Michael Carrick, and he believes if he lands Isco has can take Paul Pogba back into a deeper role.
Manchester City would need at least one extra midfielder when Yaya Toure leaves the Etihad at the end of this season.
Isco is currently happy at the Spanish capital, but would be open to a move when his starting spot is no longer guaranteed.
